ABUJA LAPAROSCOPY ACADEMY

About Us

Our Mission, Story & Team

Dedicated to producing the most practically prepared laparoscopic surgeons in Nigeria, one cohort at a time.

Our Story

Born from a Need Nigeria Could No Longer Ignore

Every year, thousands of Nigerian medical graduates enter surgical residencies having performed fewer than five laparoscopic procedures. Laparoscopy, the standard of care for dozens of common surgeries worldwide, remained a skill gap for most.

Abuja Laparoscopy Academy was established to change this reality. We created a dedicated, practical training environment outside the hospital setting, where medical students and surgeons can build genuine competence in laparoscopic techniques without the pressure of live patient care.

Located in the Federal Capital Territory, we serve trainees across Nigeria who deserve world-class surgical education on home soil.

Our Mission

“To democratise access to practical laparoscopy training for every Nigerian medical student and surgeon, building a generation of minimally invasive surgical experts.”

Our Difference

What Sets Us Apart

We’ve designed every aspect of our training environment and curriculum to deliver a measurably superior learning experience.

Advanced Simulation Equipment

Our facility uses hospital-grade laparoscopy trainers and box trainers that replicate the tactile feedback of real surgery, not cheap imitations.

Observed, Feedback-Driven Learning

Every session is supervised. You receive real-time feedback on instrument handling, camera navigation, and task completion, not just passive observation.

Structured, Validated Curriculum

Our courses follow internationally validated training frameworks adapted for the Nigerian surgical context, ensuring your learning is evidence-based.

Small Group, Personalised Mentorship

We deliberately cap cohort sizes to ensure each trainee receives sufficient practice time and one-on-one guidance from our expert faculty.

Strategically Located in Abuja

Accessible from all geopolitical zones, our Abuja base makes us the most convenient national laparoscopy training centre for doctors across Nigeria.
